I’m a member of Lovefilm.com which allows me to rent games and keep them as long as I want. I will be reviewing these games purely on how they look, play and whether they are worth renting, buying or avoiding like the plague.

The Club - Reviewed on Playstation 3.

Overview - The club is a 3rd person arcade style shooter. It’s structure is different to other shooters out there and is based around a series of rounds which ask you to get from point A to point B whilst shooting with style to keep your score multiplier going. Should you miss or fail to shoot someone within the time limit your multiplier reduces.

How it Plays - The first time I booted up the game it felt a bit ropey compared to the brilliant, Call of Duty 4 (which I have played to death on the Xbox 360) I put this down to the PS3 controller in my opinion being inferior than the 360’s for this type of game, so I persevered. I’m glad I did as the game initially felt like a breath of fresh air. You can certainly dip in and out of it - a quick 20 minute blast after a stressful day at work - however after a lenghty stint on Sunday I got a bit bored with it’s repetative nature. Keep the sessions short and sweet and you will get a lot out of it.

Graphics - The game felt a bit dated when compared to other recent AAA releases the muted colour palette doesn’t really help gameplay and can cause confusion when navigating the tight poorly lit corridors, character design is good though with good ragdoll physics when you blast someone in the face from a couple of paces.

Rent, Buy or don’t bother? - Definitely a renter, will keep you amused for a weekend. See what you think.

Overall Score 3 out of 5
